Alpaca FAQs

Are there restrictions on the size or breed of pets allowed?

So long as your companion is well behaved, ok with other animals and not on the dangerous dogs list we would love to meet them.

Are there any extra fees for bringing pets?

Having pets ourselves we know that little paws get everywhere, we ask for a small charge of £5 per pet per night, for this we can make sure the place is as immaculate as when you checked in and endless supply of treats for the all important 4 legged friends.

What time can you arrive?

We want you to come and start experiencing Stay Balanced as soon as possible on the day of your arrival, we also want to make sure things are just right, check in will be from 3pm and check out at 12pm on the day of departure so we can do the same for those coming to enjoy stay balanced after you.

What time do we have to leave?

All good things must come to an end and whilst we hope you had a great stay with us. We want to make sure everything is ready for our next guests, but equally we want you to have a relaxed morning on the day that you leave, so you can stay with us until 12pm, enough time for a lie in a spot of brunch and a last glimpse of the Alpacas.

Can we use the hot tub on the morning of check out?

We will start to get the hot tub ready for our next guests and need enough time to make sure its clean and ready to go, we’ll start to empty the hot tub from 1030am.

What safety precautions are in place for pets near hot tubs?

Our hot tubs have an insulated lid. We ask you to keep the hot tub covered when not in use, this makes sure it stays nice and toasty for when you are ready to use and also no eager swimmers end up in there. Even if your pet can out length Adam Peaty, they are not allowed in the Hot Tubs

Are there nearby walking trails or outdoor spaces for pets?

All of our accommodation has enclosed garden spaces for your pet to enjoy. There are also local walks on the doorstep and some a few minutes drive away. We make some recommendations in our welcome book for you and your companion to enjoy

Can pets stay in all areas of the accommodation or are there designated spaces?

Pets are free to enjoy the accomodation with you, please do not let them practice doggy paddle in the hot tubs and we ask you to cover the furniture with your own throws to prevent muddy paws. For all our guests comfort pets should sleep in their own beds and not on yours. This helps us make sure we can keep our nightly rates low for everyone to enjoy.

Is the hot tub private or shared with other guests?

They are not shared. All our accommodation have private Hot Tubs

What is the booking process for luxury pet-friendly stays with hot tubs in Wales?

Can children go on an alpaca walk?

If you’re looking for a unique and memorable alpaca experience, we’ve got just the thing. Our alpaca experiences are for children aged 5 and over.

Whilst our Alpacas are always fascinated by little humans, sometimes little hands can be a little too much for them so whilst we welcome children over the age of 5 those 14 and under are able to help their accompanying adult to hold the lead.

You can be sure that your child will have a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

From interacting with the alpacas to learning about their care and feeding, your child will come away from the experience with a new appreciation for these amazing animals.

Do Alpacas Spit?

No Alpacas do not spit. This is probably the most common question we get asked.

Unlike their cousin the Llama, Alpacas do not generally spit at humans, they just got a bad rep from their Llama cousin.

Who are the alpaca experience suitable for?

We don’t recommend our Alpaca experiences for expectant mothers. Whilst Alpacas are one of the calmest and gentlest animals, they are still animals with all the risks that this brings.

Can I join the alpaca experience if I am pregnant?

Unfortunately not, alpacas are increasingly popular as domesticated animals, and alpaca experiences – where people can interact with these gentle creatures – are becoming more common.

However, pregnant women are advised against participating in alpaca experiences, as there is a risk of contracting toxoplasmosis from contact with the alpacas’ feces.

Toxoplasmosis is a disease that can cause serious health problems for both the mother and the developing fetus, so it is best to err on the side of caution. While alpacas may be cute and cuddly, pregnant women should leave the alpaca experiences to others.

What time do the alpaca treks start?

We can be flexible around your requirements. Its worth bearing in mind the time of year, we want you to be able to see and experience the Alpaca in the daylight.

So, if your booking takes us into the hours of darkness we’ll contact you.

What should I wear to the alpaca walks?

Whist we can guarantee a great time we can’t guarantee the weather; suitable walking shoes and water proofs are a good idea. If there has been a lot of rain we’ll try and keep you to as dry a ground as much as possible, but sometimes the mud can’t be avoided as our Alpacas will testify to that.

Is there anything else I should bring to the alpaca walks?

A smart phone or camera for those all-important selfies with the heard.

Believe it or not the sun does shine here in Wales, so make sure if the sun is due to be out to pack the sunscreen and a hat for while we are out in the open.

How do I walk an Alpaca?

Don’t worry the boys will show you, but for those eager to know ahead of time, we’ll help you harness your Alpaca with their head collar.

Each of our Alpacas have their own head collar and lead, to make sure it fits just right.

What is your cancellation policy for the alpaca experiences?

We do not offer refunds for bookings but we are happy to reschedule any bookings within 48 hours of the upcoming booking.

What if we are expecting bad weather for the day of our experience?

The welsh weather can be a bit unpredictable. The safety of our Alpacas and our guests comes first should it look like we are to expect severe weather we’ll contact you to offer you an alternative date or a gift voucher towards another of our experiences.
